The Resurrection of Hope
Tinsae Humanitarian
Charity Organization (THCO) was born out of necessity and compassion. Founded
in January 2020 as the Tinsae Charity Committee by a group of dedicated professionals and
community members, our objective was clear: to provide a lifeline to those
devastated by the conflict in Tigray. After two years of intensive grassroots
response, addressing widespread displacement and human suffering, we transitioned
into a fully registered NGO on November 22, 2022 (Registration No. 6524).
‘Tinsae’ (ትንሳኤ)
is a Tigrigna word meaning ‘Resurrection.’ We believe that even after the darkest times of
destruction and loss, new life and hope can be built. Our organization is
living proof that through local commitment and international partnership,
communities can rise again.
THCO operates at the
intersection of humanitarian aid and long-term development. We don’t just
provide emergency relief; we build the systems that help survivors become
leaders.
Who We Are
Local Expertise, Global Standards
THCO is a young-women-led non-profit organization deeply rooted in the
communities we serve. We are not just service providers; we are neighbors and
peacebuilders who understand the cultural and social landscape of the Ethiopia.
While we began with
emergency aid, we have grown into a trusted partner for international donors
like the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI). We specialize in:
·
Peacebuilding & Social Cohesion: Utilizing innovative tools like sports (football)
and peer-mentorship to bridge divides between refugees and host communities.
·
Nutritional Security: Our "Feed and Nurture" initiative
provides life-saving supplements to children in IDP camps.
·
Educational Recovery: Through "Education for All," we rebuild
the learning environment for thousands of conflict-affected students.
·
Protection & Empowerment: We provide specialized support for GBV
(Gender-Based Violence) survivors, war veterans, and people with disabilities,
ensuring their dignity is restored.
Our Vision
To see the people of Ethiopia and neighboring regions living in a peaceful, resilient, and inclusive
environment where every individual has the health, education, and economic
opportunity to thrive.
Our Mission
THCO works to
restore the dignity of vulnerable groups—including conflict survivors, people
with disabilities, women, and veterans—through integrated protection,
sustainable livelihoods, and youth-led peacebuilding programs.
Our Goal
To deliver
high-impact, cost-effective, and culturally sensitive programs that empower
marginalized populations in Tigray and refugee-hosting regions to move from
crisis to self-reliance. We aim to be the leading voice for young women’s
participation in peace and security across Ethiopia.
Our Core Values
·
Resilience (Tinsae): We believe in the possibility of renewal and hope
in every situation.
·
Local Leadership: We prioritize youth and women-led solutions that
respect local culture and traditional institutions.
·
Neutrality & Integrity: We maintain strict non-partisanship, ensuring aid
reaches those who need it most, regardless of background.
· Excellence & Accountability: We hold ourselves to the highest standards of
transparency, as demonstrated by our successful management of international
grants and partnerships.
·
Inclusivity: We follow the principle of "Leaving No One
Behind," with a specific focus on the most marginalized veterans and
survivors.
